Foxconn Reportedly to Resume Plant Construction in Vietnam for Mobile Phones in 2Q 2010

Foxconn plans to resume construction on a new mobile phone plant in northern Vietnam in the second quarter of 2010, Dow Jones reported citing local media the Dau Tu newspaper on February 8. The investment is valued at US$200 million. Should the plan go as planned, the plant - to be located at Vinh Phuc province, north of Hanoi - is anticipated to have an annual capacity of 89 million mobile phones and tens of millions of mobile phone parts and components, according to the same source. Foxconn, however, was not immediately available for comment. Meanwhile, Foxconn is considering expanding its plant in Mexico. Further details of the plan, however, were not yet disclosed.
